Overview

MCU platforms with integrated radios for Wi-Fi 6/7, Bluetooth LE 5.x, Thread, Zigbee, and 802.15.4. Covers single-protocol and multi-protocol concurrent radios. Common families include Espressif ESP32-C/H/P, Nordic nRF54/91, TI CC27xx/CC1354, Silicon Labs xG24/xG28, and Renesas DA series.

Limitations & Risks

• RF performance varies significantly by vendor and stack maturity
• Certification (FCC, CE, MIC, RED) costs are real
• Stack quality across BLE, Thread, and Matter is uneven — vendor selection matters more than silicon spec

Recommended Actions

Choose by required protocol stack maturity rather than headline silicon spec. Validate Matter and Thread cross-vendor commissioning early; many features that work in lab need additional engineering for real-world interop.

Additional Notes

Replaces the prior vendor-specific callouts (ESP32-C6, nRF54, TI CC27xx). Pairs with #52 Matter Protocol Stack.
