Embedded systems are becoming complex and even resource constrained devices are requiring a Real-Time Operating System (RTOS). In this workshop, attendees will be walked through RTOS fundamentals starting with simple bare-metal scheduling techniques through the intricacy required to design a RTOS based application. Attendees will examine practical examples and techniques that will decrease their learning curve and help them avoid the common pitfalls many developers fall into when starting to use an RTOS. This course will also leverage Percepio’s Tracealyzer to further enhance attendees RTOS application understanding. The course includes six sessions:

Embedded systems are becoming complex and even resource constrained devices are Understanding basic RTOS principles is easy but applying those techniques and reaching an advanced understanding of the concepts is difficult. This workshop propels developers into advanced RTOS application design techniques that are rarely covered in traditional RTOS courses but are critical to the practicing engineer. In this course we will examine practical examples and techniques that will accelerate development activities and improve the robustness of RTOS based designs. We will be using Percepio’s Tracealyzer to not only visualize our applications but also spot common RTOS issues such as priority inversions and dead-lock. The course includes seven sessions:
RTOSes have become a critical component in IoT devices to manage the devices real-time behavior. Leveraging a connected RTOS framework can dramatically accelerate development but it can also cause delays and budget overruns if developers don’t understand the frameworks architecture and how to build their application around it.
In this course, we will examine the Amazon FreeRTOS framework and learn how to build an extensible and reusable application architecture around it. We will examine how Amazon Web Services works and the steps necessary to configure IoT edge nodes and handle bi-directional communication with the cloud. Attendees will also learn how about how to optimize their design for size, performance and energy. Each session includes a hands-on lab to help developers get experience with the concepts we discuss during the lectures. We will use Percepios’ Tracealyzer to analyze Amazon FreeRTOS. The course consists of the following sessions:

The ability to update firmware in the field or over-the-air is a critical component in every embedded system. The complexity and the skills necessary to successfully develop the capability to update firmware in the field are often under-estimated and result in buggy updates or bricked systems. The Bootloader Design Techniques for MCU’s Workshop walks engineers through every stage of the bootloader design process and provides hands-on examples and case studies to accelerate the engineers’ abilities and allow them to walk away with the skills and knowledge necessary to implement a bootloader on any microcontroller with any communication interface.
