CEC – Agile for Embedded Developers

Agile has become the de facto methodologies used by most software development teams today. Does Agile really fit though with embedded software development? In this course, we will explore the benefits and modern takes on Agile for embedded software development. Attendees will learn about how to apply modern Agile practices to their software development.

Agile for Embedded Developers

Day 1: To Agile or Not?

Agile has become the de facto methodologies used by most software development teams today. Does Agile really fit though with embedded software development? In this session, we’ll explore what Agile is and whether it is enough to be successful developing embedded software. Attendees will walk away understanding what Agile really is and start to develop the philosophies to use it properly.

Day 2: Agile Methodologies

Teams often talk about being Agile, but there are more than 40 different Agile methodologies that exist today. In this session, we will explore the most mainstream Agile methodologies like lean, Kanban, and Scrum. We’ll dive deeper into Scrum. Attendees will walk away understanding the various methodologies.

Day 3: A Deep Dive into Scrum

Without any question, Scrum is the most popular Agile methodology adopted by teams today. In this session, we will do a deep dive into Scrum. We’ll discuss topics such as Scrum artifacts, scrum events, and the product backlog. Attendees will walk away understanding the elements of Scrum that can help them to be successful.

Day 4: Developing User Stories

User stories are a critical component to most Agile processes, but they often confuse embedded software developers. In this session, we will discuss user stories, story points, and how to write stories with an embedded component. Attendees will talk away understanding how to write user stories for embedded products.

Day 5: DevOps, DevSecOps, and CI/CD

DevOps has become the latest incarnation of Agile. In this session, we will explore what DevOps and DevSecOps are, and how they relate to Agile methodologies. We’ll also look at CI/CD and what is necessary for embedded developers to know in order to implement these techniques. Attendees will walk away with the fundamentals of DevOps and CI/CD.
